2019 Parkinson's Unity Walk

Never Give Up Warriors

Please help me raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s research by walking in Central Park. You will help over 1 million people in the United States who currently battle Parkinson’s Disease and 60,000 new people who are diagnosed every year – one person, every nine minutes. Walking to raise money for research and awareness is my opportunity to help others.

Liane, Chloe, Austin and I have established a team, Never Give Up Warriors, because that is what People With Parkinson’s (PWP) do, we never give up, and we fight every single day.

When I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) many years ago, I had no idea what it was. I do now. It was why I had no dexterity in my right hand, why I couldn’t raise my right arm, why my right leg didn’t work properly, and oddly enough, why I lost my balance when walking and turning a left corner. The Neurologist gave me a prescription for medication with unlimited refills. I thought it was strange, and asked how long I’d be on meds, and she responded, “Forever.” My symptoms became bilateral 8 years ago, and typing, creating financial models, thinking clearly, working long hours, commuting…and walking with a cup of coffee…became impossible. I finally stopped working to focus on my health, get strong and live my new life.

This past summer, I underwent Bilateral DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery, and I am now ready to WALK.   https://www.mayfieldclinic.com/PE-DBS.htm

There's strength in numbers, so please join my family for this walk, and invite your friends and family. Every walker and donor makes a difference and takes us one step closer to finding the cause and cure for Parkinson's. By joining thousands of others in Central Park, we'll be empowering those who are living with this challenging disease, and honoring those who courageously fought and lost their battle. 100% of donations go to research.

Thanks for joining our team, and for your support.
